The Bolivar House made a handsome addition to the facade of the Chestnut Street Theatre, balancing the Shakespeare Building on the east. Little is known of the building. Contemporary accounts suggest that it's lower floor housed two shops, while the upper floors were dwellings, an arrangement quite common in Philadelphia of the early 19th century. |
