The Museum Model of the Chestnut Street Theatre

The computer model of the Chestnut Street Theatre was preceded by a museum model constructed by Darcy Sabin Carey Frost in 1974. Photographs of the model are included in the present study. They may be accessed from the Home Page. These photographs, taken by Merle Carey and Mrs. Frost, show the model in various stages of completion.

Mrs. Frost's model, which for many years was on display in Meany Hall on the University of Washington Campus, is currently relegated to storage. In its absence, the photographs presented here are all that remain to represent this splendid piece of work.

Mrs Frost's study drew heavily on the materials used by Wolcott in his initial exploration of the building, and used by Wolcott et al to develop the computer model of the theatre. Mrs. Frost's work significantly furthered research on the theatre, while at the same time posing many questions which have found answers in the later computer model.
